History

Our experience is your advantage

Future-fit based on tradition: BAG has always been able to identify future technological sectors at an early stage and develop precise solutions for these. Our company roots reach back to the year 1909, and the first igniters and ballasts were manufactured in Turgi in Switzerland more than 40 years ago. This signified the start of our success story as a partner to the lighting industry. Here are some of the milestones:

1909
The roots of the company

The Swiss Bronceguss AG (BAG) is founded in Turgi/ Switzerland.

1967
BAG Turgi initiates production of igniters and ballasts

With invention of the high pressure sodium vapour lamp by GE, BAG starts production of a supply unit consisting of a thyristor-controlled igniter and inductive ballast.

1968
BAG Turgi launches the first hot restrike igniters to the market

The company of Osram releases the first thyristor-controlled superimposed-pulse igniters from BAG for operating 400 W high pressure sodium vapour lamps. Further igniter approvals follow.

1972
Superimposed-pulse igniters replace thyristor-controlled igniters

The first superimposed-pulse igniters with bi-metal starter under the name of SM6 replace thyristor-controlled igniters as switching elements.

1981
The first electronic ballasts are presented

We show electronic control gear for the first time at the Hanover trade fair.

1994
Conversion to digital technology

The change to digital switching technology in electronic control gear ensures program-controlled start-up and optimal operation of fluorescent light sources.

1998
A production site is founded on the Philippines

The first foreign manufacturing location is founded near Manila on the Philippines.

1999
Expansion in China

A production site is founded in Zhuhai.

2000
The advent of Multi-Lamp Technology

A new era comes about with production of the world's first electronic ballasts for fluorescent lamps with multi-lamp technology.

2002
Company takeover and relocation of BAG Turgi to Arnsberg

BAG electronics GmbH is founded in 2002 with its location at Arnsberg, Germany. The further expansion also covers all activities in the areas of production, development, sales management, marketing, procurement and logistics.

2005
Market launch of Zirius hot restrike igniters

In the hot re-ignition sector the new ZIRIUS generation offers completely electronic ignition devices with intelligent ignition management systems to achieve several user advantages.

2009
The signs are set for expansion: BAG electronics takes over HÜCO Lightronic from Espelkamp

The premium quality products become a part of the BAG expanded product portfolio, and HÜCO employees strengthen the organisation.

2010
HÜCO Lightronic becomes BAG

Right on time for Light+Building 2010: the dual-brand strategy is replaced with the new corporate design, and HÜCO Lightronic is also called BAG

2012
BAG founds the LEDCycle

By founding an own business sector, all activities concerning the future technology of LED are bundled to the advantage of customers.

Corporate Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility at BAG

Activity as a result of responsibility

Long-term success does not come without values, and partnership, trust and dependability have been cornerstones of the BAG success for more than 100 years. This applies to cooperative teamwork with our customers and business partners as well as to working together within the company and between each and every employee.

Flexibility for ideas and possibilities for design are achieved based on this foundation. The result is dependability and quality in terms of products, processes and also in our daily working together. We purposefully and actively invest in the future by training tomorrow’s experts. The support of young professionals and qualified training positions are as important to us as individual support and continuous further training for our employees.
