Modernisation of the lighting system increases the building value and saves energy too
Project: AEW high-rise, Switzerland

The energy-efficient refurbishment of an administrative building: electronic ballasts (ECG), modern lighting control and highly efficient luminaries achieve energy savings of 87% in offices and hallways.

Initial situation:
Refurbishing of the 40-year-old AEW Energie AG high-rise and the adjacent court house.

  • Use of conventional ballasts (CCG)
  • High energy consumption from obsolete ceiling lighting
  • 20m² offices with 6 luminaires à 3 x 40 W in group actuation

The solution:

  • Reduction from 6 to 4 luminaires, each 1 x 54 W per office unit
  • Use of dimmable electronic ballasts (ECG)
  • LIGHTGATE plus lighting management with daylight and presence control

The result:

  • Improved lighting quality
  • Reduced number of lamps through optimal planning to less than 25%
  • Energy savings via modern lighting management with constant light control
  • Increase in comfort thanks to individual dimmability
  • Savings in electricity costs of *59,000 euros / year
