High energy savings with intelligent lighting management
Project: Sundern secondary school

The energy-efficient refurbishment of an educational establishment: electronic ballasts (ECG), modern lighting control and highly efficient louvres achieve energy savings of 81% in the classrooms.

Initial situation:
In 47 classrooms in the Sundern secondary school the old lighting systems are to be refurbished.

  • Use of conventional ballasts (CCG)
  • High energy consumption from obsolete ceiling lighting
  • Classrooms with 8 surface-mounted louvre luminaires à 2 x 58 W

The solution:

  • Use of surface-mounted louvre luminaires with twelve T5 1 x 35 W luminaires per classroom
  • Use of dimmable electronic ballasts (ECG)
  • LIGHTGATE plus lighting management with daylight and presence control

The result:

  • Improved lighting quality
  • Energy savings via modern lighting management with constant light control
  • Savings in electricity costs of *11,000 euros / year
